I have heard some talk of this from Mizzou people. I believe that Haith will escape major penalty because the NCAA so badly fouled up the investigation. It'll be sort of like the Ryan Braun situation. And he played at Thug U himself now that I think of it. That school must be made of teflon. If Haith was disposed of I have it on reasonable authority that the Associate HC a man by the name of Tim Fuller would likely get the job.

As for Marshall. I am 75-80% sure that within the next three years he will be coaching in the SEC. Not at Missouri though. He will get the honor of losing to Cuonzo again it would seem.

You are a bunch of genius' who have been predicting his demise for the past 6 years since he came to WSU. Now CGfor P, predicts that by his 9th year, he'll leave. That's a pretty long tenure. How long did your idol Cuonzo stay (2yrs. maybe)? Anyway, I predict that he stays for a 7th year. The name of this thread is MVC Coaches on the HOt Seat. Does Marshall really qualify for this? I

You are right Gregg isn't on the hotseat. I was merely responding to something I saw. I have never predicted his demise. From day one I said he was a competent coach who would win at level satisfactory to WSU fans.

If he stays for another few years. Great. He has had a nice tenure. I do think that the unrealistic level of success that WSU fans have will sour Gregg eventually. He has to look over to Eck Stadium and see probably the greatest coach in NCAA baseball history coming this close to getting run out of town. He knows the loyalty of the WSU fans is not everlasting.

But yeah if he left tomorrow and decided to join a traveling circus or something, he would still have been a really good hire. And I'm sure Wichita will do well again if circumstance dictates another search.

Show me a legitimate link that says he was offered "the money". If you can show this to me, and he didn't take it, then he is a stupid moron. Always take the money. Loyalty is a stupid BS argument because no one really has it. Every WSU fan that kisses his sphincter right now will be ready to run him out of town if he were to have a couple bad years in a row.

Worst thread of the year, hands down.

I might convert to pro choice after reading this.

Note sure is this link is considered "legitimate" to you or how you define good money but Nebraska was turned down http://www.cornnation.com/2012/3/21/288 ... basketball

And NC State was turned down http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basket ... at-wichita

I don't know anything about you, but money isn't everything in life. After you start making a certain amount, you figure out what it takes to live the lifestyle you want, and after that money doesn't mean everything. In your case it may be the only factor, but it's not like that for everyone.

Thanks for the links. Stupid moron is a strong statement and I shouldn't have said it. Still say he should have taken it. Even if you are already a millionaire, leaving a 25% raise on the table is a crazy mistake. I will make the assumption that he was offered a minimum 5 year deal. he left 2.5 million on the table.

Best case scenario, he made Nebraska much better and parlays that into an elite job Worse case, He fails, banks the extra 2.5 million and returns to a school the level of WSU, much the same as McDermott and gives it another go.

We are not talking about a guy that is 100 million deep turning down 2.5 million, then maybe it wouldn't be about the money. 2.5 million is a huge difference for someone at his income level.

I can use Lowery as an example (although obviously Marshall is a better coach), he should have jumped on the money while he was hot. Jump to the BCS level and lose you job, you can always go back to the MVC level. Stay MVC level, lose your job and you are back to the assistant ranks hoping that you eventually get another chance.

Coach Marshall has made comments such as, "a man can only eat so many hamburgers", when referring to moving to another job. Now that comment would ring hollow if he was making 200-500k, but at nearly 1.6M, the point is legitimate. In Wichita's low cost of living, 1.6M gives you access to everything and anything. Add in his celebrity status and he probably does everything he wants to in Wichita for free. He has a very good thing going and his pay goes up yet another 100k after this year.

There are three things I think that can lure a coach away from their current job: 1) nostalgia (HCGM already turned down SC), 2) money (HCGM has already turned down jobs for 2M), and 3) status. While HCGM has turned down job offers to coach in the Big12, SEC, ACC, Big10, and I think BigEast, he certainly would have to swallow hard to turn down a legit top 10 job. I think that is the only thing that lures him away.

The top 10 programs are looking for guys exactly like HCGM - one of the hottest non-BCS coaches in the country. Hopefully he keeps turning down the offers..
