As a Western fan I have peaked in on this board for a while as many of the teams are former conference foes to the Leathernecks. The Macomb market will likely always keep Western off the MVC radar. I see some possible catastrophes occurring based on the MVC's dealings for Western so with that in mind I am curious about the popular opinion here on several matters. The pipeline is never fun when you are on the tail end.
First, I don't expect Western to be considered for any opening in the MVC. It does make sense for travel purposes but cache will always carry the day. Budget issues are realistic for the entire state of IL which other MVC members know all too well. The facilities in place are in a sad state. So long story short I am not here for a pissing contest etc.
With that out of the way I want to inquire about three matters. This may be off topic to a degree but it impacts all of the schools.
1. Is the MVC looking to sit at 10 or 12 members?
2. Who is the preference a private or public institution?
3. Would the MVC offer football on their own or do they value current affiliations?
My goals as stated elsewhere.... MVC, Lose CU. Add ORU, Belmont, Murray St. >>> Create MVC Football with SIU, ISU, InState, UNI, YSU, MSU, Murray St.... 7 members and automatic playoff birth. The site would have to add a football forum is this happens.
I would like untie the SL's hands, they are forced to be MVC's punk via who the MVFC will allow into the SL. I am comfortable with Western not getting into the MVC but I have grown very tired of the MVC schools setting the SL membership to ensure their superiority. We get it... The SL almost died until the MVC schools swayed on Univ of South Dakota. With the moves stated above the SL could add another football school, likely Northern CO and have their own automatic playoff birth as well. A scheduling agreement could be reached to rotate teams year to year for non con scheduling.
I am trying to avoid a Dakota defection to either the MVC of Big Sky. Western will not get an invite from anyone left on the board. I do not want to join the WAC... Western is in a very tough place depending on how the MVC moves.
