Is there something missing that we don't know on jake white?
Or is ndsu coach just too stubborn with a cinch ncaa berth this year upcoming and disnt want to mess with chemistry ?
Jake isn't a world beater, but he is more than good enough to start for NDSU.
I think Jake was more than good enough to be a solid player at WSU. Marshall sure seemed to have confidence in his abilities. My understanding is he left due to a desire to be "the man" or a star caliper player. Which wasn't going to happen at WSU. And might not have happened on most MVC teams.
He would be a star at NDSU.
I like Jake, but those comments just so happened to come out when WSU clearly had more players than scholarships for next season. The only guy he had more minutes than last year was Lufile, and with more depth at the 4 than the 5 next year, Lufile would likely have played more. End of the day, Jake wasn't going to get more minutes than any returning player, and incoming bigs at the 4 like Watson and Carter would possibly pass him as well.
I'm not saying he wasn't a good player or WSU is just so amazing now that we can dismiss him, but I don't think Jake would have had more minutes next year than last. He just wasn't going to be a starter at WSU. He would have been a few years ago, but my guess would have him at #3 at PF next season. We needed a scholarship and he conveniently left just when we needed it. We knew someone had to go... it was going to be him or Lufile.
As for Marshall having confidence in his abilities. .. he played 12 minutes a game, ranked 11th on the team. Most of that was in garbage time or to rest players. He did contribute good minutes in the tournament, though. He's a good player. .. but he wasn't ever going to start. I think that was the concern, far more than wanting to be The Guy.
