Do you think Baker will be getting Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, or Rookie of the Year?

I believe the good doctor is hypothesizing that Baker should be on the second team All-Conference in place of someone.

Most likely should be. But only one person proposed anything for the first/second teams.

I believe several players for the Bears will challenge for post season honors. Marcus Marshall is one of the most complete guards in the conference with the ability to handle, score, get his own shot, and defend. I see Marcus and Walt Lemon as unique among Valley guards.Marcus is special. People keep overlooking a pair of 6'5 wings for the Bears in Jarmar Gulley and Ron Mvouika. Gulley was one of the top newcomers two years ago, and if healthy, will be a handful once again. Mvouika might be the most overlooked impact recruit we've had in a while. He originally signed with ACC member Virginia Tech out of HS, but injured his back and returned to France to rehab. He was originally recruited as a pg, but now at 6'5 has grown into a solid wing player leading his Sheridan juco team to 2 straight National Juco tourneys and averaging 19ppg and 8 rbs this past year. Lusk has said he's more ready to play at D-1 than any of the jucos he's recruited so far. A final player of intrigue is prep school pg Devon Thomas who some feel could push to start from Day 1. He's about 5'11, very quick and athletic, and has leadership skills you want in a pg. Somewhere in that mix will be an All MVC type, a NOY/FOY candidate, and perhaps a POY challenger in the future.

Marshall is very good. He is not unique and you described Ron Baker with his talents.

They are entirely different types of players; but if you wanna make this about Baker, the thread is yours.

He's behind 2 Shockers and 4 Redbirds in the latest jucorecruiting.com rankings. Get in line!

Baker was just an example. He's not a unique talent as you described him, but he is very good. I've noticed that you have the uncanny ability to disregard all non-Bears as inferior. That is unique.

Pickett can make all MVC if he can stay on the court and keep his elbows down. McIntosh has to be the favorite for FOY just because there is such a scoring void on that team. He can step in and have the green light from day 1. Swopshire (Rivals top 150 entering his senior year) would be up there but for the fact Lemon will be taking most of our shots next year. Of course projecting the best new guys is a bit ridiculous when they're coming from different states and AAU circuits and even different countries.

I know everyone on here is biased toward your school's players and should be. Im no exception. Therefore Id like to give an early vote to MSU's Devon Thomas for potential FOY.

From Hoop Dreams Magazine:

Devon Thomas, a 5'11 guard from Silver Springs, MD who runs the show for Kimball Union Academy (NH), gave a verbal pledge to Missouri State.

Devon Thomas possesses terrific basketball IQ and a toughness approach to the game that’s needed for a player who stands at 5 feet - 11 inches. High major schools such as Pitt,Virginia, Maryland and Duke have all expressed interest in the lead guard after a great showing during the July evaluation period playing with Metro Boston. But instead of waiting it out and potentially landing a big time offer, Thomas knew the time to commit was now.

“The coaches love me. They talk highly of me and only want the best for me. Coach Lusk and I had a good talk about how he is going to utilize me and play me to my strengths,” Thomas said.
