Not sure if you were comparing Coleby to Kirk or to our incoming transfer Ado. If you meant Ado and you meant to compare their stats in the season they were both starters on D-1 teams then it would be Ado's sopmore year at Northern Colorado and Coleby's junior year at Louisiana Lafayette. Hard to make a case for Coleby having better stats in very comparable playing time and competition.
Coleby: 24.4 m/g, 9.5ppg, 4.9 rbs, 73 blks, .8 as, .500 ft%, .00 3pt%, .561 fg%
Ado: 21.4 m/g, 9.6ppg, 4.1 rbs, 10 blks,1.0 as, .753 ft%, .457 3pt%, .520 fg%
What's obvious in those stats is Ado can step out and hit shots and make fts, while Coleby is a more physical presence defensively. Neither rebounded particularly well for post players.I'm not sure how good either one actually will be, but it'd be hard to make a case based on past stats or performance for one being clearly better than the other. Right now, however, I wouldn't bet against Tyler McCullough, our 6'10 freshman being our starter in the post. He is very fundamentally sound, not a great shot blocker or out of space rebounder, but very smart with the ball, excellent footwork, and finishes with either hand well. He won't wow ya, but he does alot of things that contribute and make those around him better. He's a more mobile and athletic Creekmore with a little more size as well.
Always interesting comparing stats and trying to project players future performance. Another good comparison is Darius Carter and Ron Mvoueka. They will play different positions and bring different skill sets, but both are Juco players looking to replace key performers and contribute immediately. Mvoueka didn't get the accolades of Carter, but he was originally signed by Virg Tech and did lead his juco team to two straight Juco National Tourney appearences.
Carter: 15.8 ppg, 8.3 rbs, .544 fg%, .596 ft%, 27 assists, made 2/4 3pt shots
Mvoueka: 19.3 ppg, 8.2 rbs, 48.2 %, .720 ft%, 74 assists, made 54 treys and shot 38% from there.
Both should play alot whether in the starting lineup or off the bench for their respective teams. Wouldn't shock me for the Bears to keep Marshall at the pg at least early on with pretty good depth at the 2/3 or wings. If so they could start 6'3, 6'5, 6'5, 6'7, 6'10. Quite an improvement size wise over last years undersized unit. Summer's speculation is always fun.
