My mistake. It was Lemon's comments, not Geno's.

http://www.pjstar.com/bradleyhoops/x115 ... owa?zc_p=1
“I didn’t realize they could shoot like that,” Lemon said. “Sometimes we were right there in their face and they were still making them. We didn’t come in thinking this was D-2 Upper Iowa, we’ll come in and beat them. We came in thinking this was a chance to play against another team.”

Obviously Bradley has a lot of work to do defensively. But UIU's shooting percentage appears to have been flukish.

I was a little discouraged by Monday night's exhibition. I didn't expect them to be in midseason form, but I expected a little more.

I know they didn't gameplan against Upper Iowa, but a D2 squad with limited height isn't going to try and pound the ball down low.

The problem is we should have had the athleticism to hold that number down. I don't know if those were open shots but Geno's comments in the paper seem to indicate they were making them under pressure. Bradley has two very good pieces (Lemon, Pickett) to build around but still a lot of newcomers and it may take a few games to get everybody on the same page defensively. Plus there was probably a lot of lineup shuffling as the coaches are still trying to figure out the best combinations to put on the floor.

Also, to whoever questioned Geno, he won 2 MAC COY awards at Kent State, so his resume is among the best in the Valley. Last year's team made a big jump in competitiveness and I'm expecting a similar jump this year.

Look at the box score. There was not alot of lineup shuffling. 6 guys played the majority of the minutes to handle UIU.

Better than...
Marshall? (Final 4)
Giacoletti? (Sweet 16)
Jacobson? (Sweet 16)
Lansing? (Round 1)
Hinson? (Well...)

You're forgetting...

Jim Les (Sweet 16)
Chris Lowery (Sweet 16)

I think a body of work over the course of a season is more indicative of good coaching than getting hot in March, although I might prefer the latter as a fan. Certainly the best coaches can do both.

I'd rank Geno's resume behind Marshall and Jacobson, but that's not to say the others aren't good coaches. Giacoletti made the S16 by inheriting Bogut at Utah, but they fell pretty far after that. He did a nice job at Eastern Washington though. Lansing won a conference tournament as a 3 seed, and has had marginal success since. Hinson has a lot of upper division finishes but he needs to win a title or make the Dance. Yeah, I'm probably biased.

Looking at the box score, the minutes played do appear to indicate that the lineups reflected what we'll see in the regular season from Bradley. I am a little discouraged after seeing that. I thought the Bahamas trip would put us ahead of the curve.

If you're really into ranking coaches, it goes--

Marshall

Jacobson

Hinson
Ford

Simmons
Lansing

Giacolletti

I would move the coaches that have been fired to the borrow rung other than that agree.
