Tuttle continues to be one of the most overrated players in the league but part of that is scouting, and the WSU coaches scout as well as any group around. The big guy was a non-factor and he's the only post player UNI has....Buss is just a big shooter.
WSU just wore the Panthers down. Ben tried a lot of Singleton and Morgan because he needed athleticism but they both struggled with the intensity of the game.
Thought both teams got away with a lot of contact. It's got to suck to be a player these days, not knowing if it's going to be called old rules or new rules.
Someone said Cle was great...no. Average at best...had all 4 turnovers (of the scholarship players) and didn't make anyone better. Fred however was incredible.
The key, which too many overlook, is defense. WSU is simply a much better defensive team than UNI and that's unlikely to change anytime soon.
I know Panther fans are going to lament their shooting % but you can blame (or credit) the WSU D for that a lot more than missing shots. WSU challenges shots as well as anyone around.
Baker and Van Vleet are extraordinarily special competitors.
Tuttle is not overrated. He is often over matched against big or athletic teams because UNI has no other big men, and teams are able to pile on him in the paint because he is our only option. He is really good when he is playing power forward or is paired with another competent big, of which UNI has neither. As a complementary player, he is great. Being the primary focus of most teams defense, he still leads the league in rebounding and averages 14 PPG.
Using Singleton and Morgan was not something different. Morgan has been a top 7 rotation guy all year long, and Singleton has gotten significant minutes ever since the VCU game. Jake has settled into this rotation the last 5-6 games.
A good number of the shots UNI missed tonight (mostly from 3) were very good or wide open looks. It has been one of the main issues this year, we just aren't making shots. Making 3's has been a big part of our offense for a long time, and the fact is that we just aren't that good of a shooting team right now and its killing us in these road games.
