Complete agreement with your assessment to date with two exceptions:

ISUr has been disappointing so far (home loss to USU, a bottom of the MWC team, in a game where they were 9 point favorites is not fatal but certainly crippling). They have yet to win a game they shouldn't to make up for that megadud.

Loyola probably gets a more significant bump following the last couple road wins. I don't know that anyone outside of WSU and UNI wins both of those at this point. Ramblers probably aren't the 3rd best team in the league, but they very well may avoid Thursday night.

I wouldn't call it abysmal by any stretch. MSU is bad right now, (as is Drake and Bradley which shouldn't be a surprise), yet MSU and BU almost pulled it off. Loyola surprised in the other direction. Great job Ramblers! A road win where Doyle didn't even score double figures (but he did have 7 boards and 7 assists).

Almost pulling games off doesn't mean anything. Those "close" losses won't be looked at later in the year when NCAA Tournament bids are compiling up. This is the time of the year where the league's RPI is built up or torn down. A loss is a loss. A national pundit isn't going to be wowed with MSU's OT loss against Washington State.

This resembles Moral Victory Conference way of thinking. Looks bad.

I think the league would be better if Illinois State left the conference. What NCAA credits have they added to the Valley pile in the last 15+ years?

No moral victories here. Just stated stated my opinion.

MVC is Ranked 8th - which is not terrible. It would really help if the conference could move up to 6 or 7.

Austin McBroom trying out for a MVC All-League selection. He's had good games against MVC competition, including 2 game-winners.

The truth does indeed hurt. Laughing about it can provide a temporarily relief from that pain at least.

That would work out well since we found it hard enough to replace the last team that left.

Illinois State will probably capture the all-sports trophy this year based on 3 conference titles so far...
(not sure if the MVFC title counts or not, probably not?)
