Would it better to say it is more a fanbase rivalry and a coaching rivalry then actually Isu vs Wsu?
Both fanbases don't really care for each other the last couple years and same with the coaches on both sides

That was during Marshall's first year at WSU 2007-2008, the second conference game of the season. The Shocks ended up in the play in round in St Louis that year, but I believe Brauer had just gone down with a concussion the game before against Drake and the season went downhill after that.

Actually finished ahead of WSU, a few times, in The 80's.
Just as I thought, some or perhaps many SHOX fans are little more than band wagon jumpers.
