You aren't understanding me. Here are my points:

1. First and foremost, I care about every team in this conference. NonCon I cheer for them and postseason tournaments. Yes, everyone needs to schedule better and in general be better, but this isn't the Big 12, Big 10, ACC, etc. Each school has limitations or issues. WSU once upon a time did too, until two great hires in a row and some luck in the recruiting front took you to the final 4....giving more exposure, etc.

2. I, however, do not care to have sympathy for a team who is, or believes they are good enough to make the NCAAs, yet loses to teams that are inferior to them. UNI had their chances after beating #1 and #5, but had an awful start to Valley play. That is on the team, not the conference. They lost at home to Loyola for goodness sake. WSU still has a chance for an at large...which brings me to my next point.

3. I am hating your fan approach to this loss today. Rather than look to your own team for it's struggles like UNI fans did, you are blaming the conference for these losses. Now, if you are superior to everyone, there should never be a loss. That's been the point I have made for PAGES now. Stop deflecting the blame....everyone on here understands that a bad conference this year hurts your at large chances....we just don't share SYMPATHY for you.

AndShock wrote:This conference would be much better off if everyone cared about everyone. If every team just replaced 1 cupcake with a good team it would create a ripple effect that would bump up every team considerably. If every team replaced 2 cupcakes with solid teams it would probably be enough to get UNI an at-large bid. Instead of looking for the easy fix that would get everyone in this conference more money and more success everyone would rather focus on themselves and take pleasure in Evansvilling the at-large contenders.

Maybe Barry and Marty scheduled like s*** to make sure they kept their jobs and I can't fault someone for that, but that's exactly why there need to be a mandate but unfortunately no more than 3 teams in this conference have any prayer of getting to an NCAA tournament outside of a fluke run in St. Louis so they have no reason to approve a mandate.

Yes, we all understand this and have since Stickboy referenced it 5 pages ago!!! The repeater continues...
You just happen to be dominating (or were dominating) in an era of poor MVC play. If this was 2006-2007 when 3-4 teams made it each year, then you would not be bitching, you would not be asking for other leagues, and this entire conversation would be moot.

I never once blamed the loss itself on the conference. I blamed the fact that it is a "bad loss" on the conference. The entire last 2 months of the season is a gauntlet to avoid bad losses with zero opportunities for quality wins. That's my point.

We got beat, couldn't make open shots, didn't seek out better shots. It happens to all teams. Maryland just blown out at home tonight to a team they should have beat. They get the benefit of being able to make up for it with a quality win. After the first of the year, WSU doesn't get that luxury unless the rest of the conference steps up. The TWO losses in our conference are nearly enough to kill a resume.

So yet again, not blaming the loss on the conference. I'm blaming the fact that every conference game is a potential bad loss on the conference. UNI stepped up for last year, just need consistency.

I wondered how long it would be for LOSERZ to show up trash talking. What a dim wit.

I've literally said we aren't blaming the conference like 6 times now and you continue to ignore it so I give up. You win.

He's a one trick pony who is a fan of a basketball program that is scoreboarded by Missouri State on most recent NCAA Tournament appearances. He's not used to this kind of discussion.

When? If so I missed it. All I saw was you kept arguing the same points over and over. Never stating accountability for your actual teams performance. Focusing instead on the conferences struggles hindering your mighty Shockers and me not showing any teams sympathy somehow making me not care...

You're not that good Wichita. The sooner you acknowledge it the happier you'll be.

Pretty awful, but easily the best in the league.. Put down the shovel.

Have not played like it.

Sitting at the top of the league standings with a two game lead doesn't count? After 14 games, you don't know who has played the best thus far?

Amazing what one game can do.......

My biggest takeaway from this is that I'm surprised it hasn't happened prior to now. That's not a knock on the talent at Wichita but to go 47-3 in the last 50 regular season Valley games is very impressive. It's surprising that somewhere along the way they didn't run into a buzzsaw offensively or struggle mightily themselves and lose the game. Some of that is on the struggles of the league over the last 4-5 seasons, outside of last year being a one bid league for a little while now but it also speaks volumes to how good Wichita has been. I thought they were in real trouble when it was 42-27, but then when they went on their run and cut it to 6, I was sure that they would pull away. Credit UNI for hanging on.

I get some of the WSU negativity due to the success they've had as well as a personality or two on here. I think Wichita State would firmly be in the tournament today, but there is still a month of resume to be written. A few years back big bad never leave the state Syracuse went from just inside the bubble to a 5 seed by winning the Big East tournament. A lot can and will change and this season has shown that nobody is immune to an upset as it seems that the top teams in the country are so very close that nobody has separated themselves. I still believe nobody will want to see Wichita State in their region in a little over 4 weeks.

It is a conference wide thing and my Purple Aces might have been the worst offenders this season of a team that didn't schedule up enough vs expectations. It's not just scheduling it's winning those games as well. The teams I'd love to see, some of the old MCC rivalries like Xavier, Dayton, and especially Butler won't touch us. The other power 5 in state schools don't seem to want to play either. It's an art and it's something that due to Evansville needing more home than away games, often limits what they can do however the multiple MEAC/SWAC games don't do anything but hurt the overall product of not just Evansville but the league, even if they might win their respective league.

It's conference play, stuff happens and the familiarity brings out the best/worst in both sides.
